hey fellas!
I got a gig last saturday. Yeah it's a pretty late update but better late than never rite?
It was a wedding gig at a restaurant. The couple is from my church so they asked me and fellow rubbers to play.
The songs are totally cheesy but hey, that was a wicked experience!
Never in my entire life I ever imagine that I'd play Westlife's or Michael Learns to Rock's songs! hehhehe. During practice some of our friends came to watch. When our vocalist started singing "From my youngest years....." their expression was like
Hah! That was fun :D
We played 3 songs during the morning ceremony, and 14 songs for the wedding dinner. I got a really important lesson.
BUY A CLIP ON LAMP!
It looks like this..
So, you gotta clip on that thing to the music stand where your chords are.
"Why the lamp?" you might ask.
The MC asked us to play a song as a wedding march, and when the parents came in followed by the couple, we started playing. At the first line of the song, they turned off the lights!!! We didn't remember the chords and lyrics cuz we just learned the song the day before!
Panic attacked. Thank God I remember a couple of lines of the verse and it wasn't pitch black after all so we could see a little bit. Also during the first verse it was only guitar who was supposed to be playing.
2nd, it would be great if you have a car. We're all transportless. The couple provided a van and a driver and we thought that we're gonna sit on the van with the instruments. Ah. Foolish. How could we all fit in there?! =.= That was when we wanna go to the restaurant for setting up. We called for car rent but none was available. Our friends were all engaged as well >.< Thank God the uncle was really nice to us that he called someone to pick us up.
So before the real thing we rented a car. That car was supposed to pick us up about 5.30 but then the owner was stuck somewhere in town that he couldn't make it on time. We were running really late. And then finally another friend picked us up and we squeezed in his car hihi. That happened also after the wedding but then once again one of our friend is willing to send us back. Jehovah Jireh!
But seriously. Buy a car if you can.
